Justice and Freedom for Carlos de São Vicente

Since his incarceration, Carlos Manuel de São Vicente has been trying to get his voice heard, exercise his rights and affirm his innocence.

In vain.

The proceedings against him have been manipulated by the Angolan authorities, who have made him an ideal scapegoat for the difficulties of a country ravaged by corruption and the systematic failings of the judicial system, while depriving him of his most fundamental rights.

No-one is above the law, in Angola or elsewhere. Carlos Manuel de São Vicente is not asking for any kind of special treatment, but simply respect for the law, the presumption of innocence and the right to a fair trial.

Many may see him as a symbol of capitalism and the inequalities of Angolan society. But it is important not to lose sight of the fact that he is a husband, a father and an entrepreneur, who believes in his country, in which he has built and invested massively, and created large numbers of jobs.

This website does not simply defend one man. It also defends the principles of the rule of law, without which there is no democracy, no development and no justice.

Carlos Manuel de São Vicente wishes to have his voice heard and publicly denounce the injustices he has suffered. This website has been set up by his family, his supporters and his defence team to raise public awareness of the irregularities in the Angolan criminal trial and his unlawful detention, and to rebuild his reputation.
